Are you planning a last minute wedding?

Are you planning a last minute wedding?

Congratulations on your engagement and now you are deciding when and where to get married.

For some couples the build-up of months of planning is part of the excitement, but for others this isn’t the chosen route.

If you have decided that you want a relatively quick planning period or circumstances in your life are dictating you need to arrange the wedding quickly, it is perfectly possible to have the most wonderfully romantic wedding within weeks of making the decision to get married.

Flexibility over dates and venues will be important, but there can also be financial benefits of a last minute wedding, as many venues offer late booking discounts.

The choice and booking of venue and ceremony sometimes goes hand in hand.

If you have decided to have a faith based marriage in a church, temple, synagogue or mosque you will need to book that before you book the reception venue.

If you have decided to have a simple civil ceremony then you can usually choose your reception venue first or choose a licensed venue that has a registrar on their books, although this option will be restricted by rules and time restrictions.

The most flexible and personal way to create your wedding ceremony is with a celebrant led ceremony. Even if you hire a licensed venue you don’t have to use their registrar. You can complete the legal formalities in the registrar’s office and have your celebrant create and conduct a personal ceremony that is written about your love story.

Many independent celebrants will also be happy to include spiritual or religious themes in the ceremony so you can have the best of both worlds if you or your other half have some religious beliefs but don’t want a full faith based ceremony.

If you decide that a bespoke ceremony is for you, then it is a good idea to book your celebrant first, and they may be able to advise you on the venue for your ceremony too, as this is a big part of creating the perfect personal ceremony.

The location of your ceremony can also influence the content of your ceremony, as the celebrant will create words and visual elements in keeping with your chosen venue.

Whether you want a ceremony on a beach, in a wood, or with a festival style feel, or prefer the idea of a rustic barn or a charming country house or want to have a local hotel, your options for a celebrant ceremony are limitless, as is the time and date of your wedding as celebrants don’t have any restrictions.

Depending on your budget you might also choose to hand everything over to a wedding planner who will coordinate every element of your wedding from the ceremony through to the reception.

Once you have chosen your ceremony type and venue, you can then move on to inviting guests, hiring suppliers, choosing your clothes and looking forward to your perfect day.
